Coronavirus Pandemic and Financial Soundness of Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited: Evidence from 2019 and 2020 Financials

The Wuhan COVID19 disease in China turned a worldwide pandemic 2020. It disrupted normal ways of life; caused collateral damage across the globe; and altered traditional banking model due to multiple lockdowns, movement restrictions, border closures, other protocols put place by governments control spread disease. Ghana was not an exception all these challenges posed COVID-19 pandemic. Riding on new-normal theoretical underpin, this study empirically quantified effect financial soundness Fidelity Bank Limited. CAMEL indicators measured soundness. Using secondary data analysis technique, one-way variance (ANOVA), descriptive statistics, SPSS software, research established that: (i) bank performed better aforementioned 2020 than 2019; (ii) there no statistical difference between performance 2019 (except liquidity). Theoretically, new theory proved be relevant as (when halls were mostly closed) its increased investments technology (FinTech), digital (DigTech), big-data (BigTech). offered far-reaching results-backed recommendations.
